The NGK Ruthenium HX is intended for use in newer engines that require high ignitability. The PSPE design promotes spark energy concentration and ignites a wider range of air-fuel ratios, providing improved performance in rich or lean engine conditions. The center electrode is 0.4mm of ruthenium alloy fine wire, and the ground electrode is 0.8 mm of platinum fine wire. Platinum, a trivalent metal, has excellent anti-corrosion and anti-seizing properties.
