New unofficial renderings have hit the internet showing the upcoming Ford Bronco along with a new official teaser video, shedding even more light on the new off-road machine.
The video, posted above, was published by Ford and shows the new Bronco running around the Johnson Valley in California.
The renderings were posted to the forum Bronco6g, and the creator says he used the Bronco R race truck for reference, along with new leaked photos showing the headlights of the new SUV.
Thus far, official information on the Bronco is limited to one teaser image, the above video and the Bronco R race truck which took on the Baja 1000 this year but didn’t make it to the finish of the gruelling race.
The basics of the new Bronco are promising: a solid rear axle, a 4×4 system and an open-air roof. Rumor has it that the doors will be removable as well, while both two- and four-door models are said to be in the works. Early rumors suggested that the Bronco would have solid axles in the front and rear, but the video posted by Ford clearly shows independent front suspension.
The powertrain for the new Bronco remains a mystery as well, though we have some guesses. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine found in the Ranger could be a good fit, making 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque sent through a ten-speed automatic.
If the Bronco R is to be believed, the Bronco could also arrive with a turbocharged V6 engine, possibly in the high performance Bronco Raptor. We don’t know for sure that the Raptor name will be used for Bronco either, but is if fun to dream and why wouldn’t Ford keep the nameplate going.
