I purchased this intake along with the NGauge tuner from 5 star in late 2018 for my 2018 F150 Ecoboost Super Crew Lariat. The quality of all components is top notch, install is pretty straight forward, but my box arrived missing some install pieces. My box didn’t include the hose clamp to seal the filter to the intake tube, so I had to buy one myself, no big deal, but it should have been in the box. I emailed 5 Star and they basically drop ship from Banks, so it was a Banks issue, not 5 Star.
The only hard part I found with the install was that my IAT Sensor wire would just barely reach the hole in the intake, so I had to remove the plastic clips from the sensor wire and it’s installed, but the wire is still very tight. I’m guessing the 2017’s sensor wire is located differently than the 18? Not too sure, but my tuner at 5 star was willing to send me an IAT sensor extender wire for free, which I thought was very nice. I’m going to run with this as is and keep an eye on it.
All in all, not too difficult an install, performance seems great, but I’m also running the e50 tune so this truck is now an absolute monster. Can’t really tell how much is the intake though…I’m guessing not nearly as much as the tune HAHA. But it’s nice to know the intake is able to add to the tune. When you compare side by side the stock intake to the Banks it’s night and day. Even though Ford’s design is pretty straight through….the Banks blows it away.
