2011-2013 F150 Ford Safety Recall – 19S07
Ford has recently issued a safety recall regarding the 6R80 transmissions as it pertains to a sudden transmission downshift. This recall concerns software updates to the PCM only. No physical components need to be changed for this recall. There will be owner mailing notifications beginning on March 4th, 2019 for impacted vehicles.
What vehicles are impacted: 2011-2013 models assembled at Dearborn and Kansas City. Affected Dearborn dates are April 28th, 2010 through October 28th, 2013. Affected Kansas City dates are May 18th, 2010 through November 18th, 2013.
Vehicles that are NOT impacted at this time are 2013 3.5L EcoBoost applications. Ford is expecting a software update and corrected to be released for these vehicles in the 2nd quarter of 2019.
What does this mean to me as an owner? Once you receive your initial recall notice from Ford, call your dealership and schedule your PCM update. Ford will be offering this update at no charge to owners. Prior to service remember to return your vehicle to stock. Once in stock form proceed to have your update complete. Upon completion, email your strategy code to sales@5startuning.com. If your PCM has been updated, we will update your existing tune files to the new strategy code free of charge.
Items to note, 2011-2013 applications may have already had this update done during previous service intervals. Also note that once your update is completed, there may be a delay until your new strategy code can be added to the database via SCT/Bully Dog and HP Tuners.
